3, 1995.
ISO stands for the International
Standards Organization, based in Geneva, Switzerland. Their goal is to
ensure that goods traded within the European Community meet an exacting
quality standard. The ISO system has become the quality management system
of choice in North America also.
Every operation from receiving
to shipping is analyzed, documented, and understood by everyone who performs
these specific operations. The company undergoes a rigorous audit by an
independent certification auditor who may question anyone in the company
concerning documentation on that individual’s job.
Companies are audited annually
and must re-earn their certification every three years.
