Long Two Compartment Distance
Piece (API 618 Type C, API 11P Type 3)
The API 618 Type C has two compartments,
each with space to accommodate an oil slinger and connections for purge
gas. This distance piece option provides the maximum amount of protection
against flammable, hazardous, toxic and corrosive gasses entering the
crankcase. Ariel recommends either sweet natural gas or nitrogen for purge
gas. The distance piece vents must be piped to a safe area. No part of
the piston rod alternately enters the wiper packing, intermediate partition
packing, or pressure packing. When
the purged packing option is selected the intermediate and wiper packing
are arranged for purge gas as well as the pressure packing.
The long two compartment distance
piece is available as an option on all JG, JGA, JGJ, JGH, JGE, JGT, JGK,
JGC, JGD, JGZ, JGU, KBB and KBV frames.
