    Discovery

Natural gas is found in underground deposits, or reservoirs, and as associated gas in oil reservoirs.

    Gas Gathering Slide 2 Graphic

    Extraction

The deposit or reservoir is tapped and the gas free flows.

    Compression

The gas is sent through a compressor station, where it is compressed to a moderate pressure.

    Treatment and Distribution

The gas is then sent onto a processing or treatment plant where liquids, heavy gas condensates and acidic gasses are removed prior to distribution for use.

  • Ariel's Gas Gathering Compressors

Natural Gas gathering compressors are often two to four stage reciprocating compressors, driven by natural gas engines. These compressors are located at the wellhead, or in a trunk line being fed by several reservoirs.

    Portability

Reciprocating compressor packages are built on rigid structural skids allowing the compressor to be located and relocated where needed as gas reservoirs become depleted.

    Reliability

Engine driven reciprocating compressor packages often see 95-98% availability.

  • Recommendations For Gas Gathering Applications

Ariel offers application specific components, engineered to ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of your natural gas gathering operation. This includes safety options and corrosion resistant materials for those gathering applications where the gas contains acidic or toxic components, such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide.

    These options include:

    • Stainless Steel materials for piston rods and valves
    • Two compartment distance pieces
    • Purged packing cases

These selections help ensure materials compatibility with the gas stream and safety for personnel.
