CF Industries Donaldsonville, Louisiana, manufacturing complex to utilize Ariel KBK/6 compressor packaged and delivered by Enerflex

Enerflex will provide an Ariel KBK/6 compressor, driven by a 1,200 hp variable speed electric motor, for CF Industries Green Ammonia Project at its existing Donaldsonville, Louisiana, manufacturing complex. The Ariel hydrogen booster compressor system that Enerflex will package will be incorporated into thyssenkrupp’s 20 megawatt (MW) alkaline water electrolysis plant which will produce green hydrogen.

When complete, the hydrogen generated by the electrolysis plant will enable the production of 20,000 tons per year of green ammonia.

Designed and manufactured by Ariel, the non-lubricated, five-stage, six-throw reciprocating compressor will deliver more than 1,400 lb/hr of pure hydrogen gas at pressures greater than 500 psi.

Ariel compressors are designed in accordance with API 618 standards for critical process applications. Built with flexibility in design and engineering versatility to adapt to custom configurations for the application, Ariel’s process reciprocating compressors also utilize field-proven, designed components to provide the highest reliability and availability. This allows them to meet or exceed API 618 requirements for three years of uninterrupted service. With an established design approach, using standardized components, Ariel was able to provide a solution that met all project-specific conditions.
